The picture on this section is a very special picture. It has most (not all) of the people responsible for the Treeing Walker Breed and it becoming the most popular coonhound breed. This section is created to allow discussions that deal with the Breeding of the Treeing Walker. What strains cross well together and which ones don't. The traits of different strains. Any issue dealing with the breeding of this breed. Also the future of the breed and what needs to be done to keep it on top.

Don,

I believe from our past correspondence, you mentioned that you had bred some of your females to some of the great Treeing Walker studs of the past.

Were you able to go hunting with any of them before having your females bred? If so, I think it would be interesting to read your thoughts and memories of these dogs. Were any of them really outstanding?

I believe you bred to Beanblossom Buck at one time?

Any thoughts or memories that stand out?

In my mind Finley River Chief was and is the greatest producer in the Treeing Walker Breed. There are a lot of things involved for me to make that statement. But with some time and effort I believe people would be surprised as to how much Finley River Chief touches the different so called strains.

Chief wasn't an accident. His father and mother were two of the best hounds of their day. I have seen people say Chief was the only thing one or both of them produced as far as making a name. ...

Ok Larry I will try to deal with this a little. There will be a lot of dogs I won't list but they are easy enough to follow back to these dogs. I will go into more detail in a later post on this.

Duvall's Lone Pine Lady was bred to two littermate brothers.
